2018 Line – Internacional Airport X Alvorada (along coast of South Zone)

If your final destination is any of these beaches: Flamengo, Botafogo, Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, São Conrado and Barra da Tijuca, this is the best line.

They run approximately every 30 min, but on weekends, in general, is 40min.

The total journey time between RIOgaleão and Barra da Tijuca (terminal Alvorada) can reach 2:40min, depending on the traffic and stops for loading and unloading. Until Copacabana is about 1hr 30min. Traffic is best between the hours of 10 and 3.

If you are arriving during the daytime and the weather is clear, this trip is worth because you do a tour of Rio de Janeiro.

TIPchoose the left side window, driver’s side. That’s where you see the best landscapes.

TIP I marked Google Maps Itinerary for the Premium 2018 line. For simplicity, I have highlighted the Downtown route to the South Zone, home to most hotels. Locate of your hotel’s address and see if the bus passes in front of or next to it.

2918 Line – Internacional Airport X Alvorada (Linha Amarela – Yellow Line).

If your final destination is Barra da Tijuca this line is faster. It goes  through Barra suburb and some condominiums there.

They run approximately every 40 min on weekdays and 60 minutes on weekends.

The other two lines ( 2145 Line and 2101 Line) make the connection between RIOgaleão International Airport and Santos Dumont Local Airport.
